Local funding to Manawatu Scottish slashed!

Manawatu Scottish recently learned the bad news that funding to our organisation, in addition to other local bands has been cut. For the full story, please follow this link:

Although $3000 doesn’t sound like a lot of money, and our running costs far exceed this, for an organisation like ours, this is a huge help in the cost of keeping the band going. Manawatu Scottish makes a huge difference to the Palmerston North community, in terms of, but not limited to public performances, teaching young people, having one of the top ten ranked Pipe Bands in the world, competing and performing live around the world, promoting the area live on BBC, and an annual contest in December run without local funding that brings in a lot of money to the community.

Unfortunately the reality is that if these sorts of things are to continue into the future, the local community needs to embrace and support local initiatives.

How can you help? Feel free to let your local Palmerston North councillor’s and community know! A handy link to their facebook page can be found here (https://www.facebook.com/PNCity?ref=stream), write to the editor of the local newspaper, or just get the word out there! And of course donations of any size are always welcome, and greatly appreciated, either by contacting us, or via our secure online Donation facility!
